My Reindeer Flies Sideways

It used to be that the tears would start rolling whenever I heard "Pomp and Circumstance." Until my kids paired these lyrics with the tune:
My reindeer flies sideways;
Your reindeer flies upside down.
My reindeer flies sideways;
Your reindeer is dead.
Which is why I was dry-eyed at my daughter's high school graduation last night. (OK, so I did choke up when she sang in the choir and I realized we were probably watching her perform for the last time.) All in all, it was a very happy time and both my sons were also in attendance (one came in from LA and I retrieved the other one from his job as a camp counselor.) My daughter spent four years collecting "graduation bling" as she and her friends referred to it and you can see that she amassed quite a bit of it from honor societies, band, drama and student council. We were all so proud of her and can't wait to see what the next four years will bring.

  1. Congratulations to you and to the graduate! Isn't it amazing? It's already been two years since my oldest graduated, but I still remember how proud we were! Unbelievable that she's finished her second year of college! Best wishes that your graduate succeeds in every way possible!

  2. LOL at those lyrics. My kids do the same darned thing with songs. Congratulations to your daughter. Time really does fly doesn't it. My first born graduates next year and I know that I'll be a blubbering mess. May you daughter have many successes in her coming years.

  3. Of course soon as I read that I couldn't remember the tune to Pomp and Circumstance, have to ask the World Traveller when he comes home! Congratulations to the graduate and buy a Nook, we love ours!

  5. Congratulations to you and your daughter. I love the reindeer lyrics. My kids do the same thing but usually have something (very) rude mixed in. It is mixed feelings when your children graduate....it is the next right of passage. With all that graduation bling I am sure she is on her way to great things.
