Grace Mason as of 9-28-11
So I'm a day late posting this according to the title.  I got my quilts back from the longarmer yesterday and sat down to sew some of the binding on one during the Phillies game.  Then I went on to working on Grace Mason and never got this post written.  I had to abandon Grace and all other stitching for a week since I had some oral surgery last Thursday and wasn't supposed to bend my head.  I won't bore you with the details, but the surgery was in preparation for getting braces to correct the effects of dental work done when I was 6 or 7 years old.  The recovery has been a little rocky, all the more so since I couldn't stitch, but I am feeling better each day.  When I left Grace last Wednesday, I was in the process of finding my counting error on the vine band.  Couldn't see it for the life of me, but with a new approach last night I found it and corrected it.  In the process I found one or two other areas that need frogging, but those should be easily restitched tonight.  I'm still loving the colors in this piece!

    Wow, she's gorgeous! Glad the frogging isn't too bad and that you found and corrected at least one of them. Hope you're feeling better after that oral surgery now. Such a bummer that you couldn't stitch after it! I have to look up Grace Mason now. :D

    Grace Mason is coming along beautifully! It's a beautiful project. How do you keep your linen so neat while stitching?

    You stitching is beautiful! I hope you feel better quickly.
    I wore braces as an adult (after having worn them as a teenager) in preparation for jaw surgery. Things have really improved since I was a teen in that arena.

    Oh My Gosh. WOW!!! Grace is stunning!!

    Hope things are healing well with the oral surgery. My brother had braces as an adult--he never followed up with the retainer he was supposed to wear when the braces he had as a teen came off! Hope things go smoothly for you.

    I do hope you are feeling better. I'm not a fan if dental work myself - but it is a necessary evil.

Today is my 35th wedding anniversary. We were married in the church in my hometown in southeast Nebraska. No air conditioning and people thought my husband was nervous when they saw him shaking his leg. He was just trying to get the sweat to run down it a bit faster! WIP Wednesday

We are not so patiently waiting for spring to arrive in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Four nor'easters in March is just cruel and I've had enough of this cold weather.  The upside is that it makes it easy to stay inside and stitch.  I'm making progress on a few things, but for reasons not clear to me, I've had a hard time settling down with one project.  I had the pleasure of taking two classes with Catherine Theron at the end of March.  You can see the projects she taught on the Salty Yarns website by clicking on the Events tab.  When I got home I was inspire to find the piece from the first class I took from Catherine at the Delaware Valley Historic Sampler Guild  many (maybe 10??) years ago.  This will become a Quaker sewing case. Happy Birthday, Winter Baby

This is our daughter's 18th birthday, and coincidentally, my brother's birthday. They were born 40 years apart--you do the math. My third pregnancy was a surprise. I don't usually tell people since I don't think it's fair to my daughter to advertise that. I'm sure none of you will break it to her, though. Because I was an "older" mother--all of 38--I had some genetic testing done early in the pregnancy. The alpha fetal protein test, the one that checks for neural tube deficits like spina bifida, came back positive twice and I ended up having to have amniocentesis. We chose not to find out the baby's gender. My daughter was due on December 12 and early in December, my doctor was telling me that it would be any day. On the 12th I had definite signs that labor should begin soon, but nothing happened. On the 17th, I went to the hospital to be induced.
