It's An Epidemic
Nancy, Piecemeal and Patchwork Penguin have all made recent posts about the state of their sewing rooms. I was in a similar position earlier this week with a myriad of projects and wannabe projects covering my cutting table. I wasn't able to focus on anything as far as quilting goes. My solution? I got a couple of shopping bags and put everything that is not related to my current project into them. My cutting table is clear and I can move ahead with that Thimbleberries block-of-the-month quilt I'm determined to finish this summer.
And yes, I know that I've only put a band-aid on the whole issue of reorganizing the sewing room as I now have a number of bags and boxes sitting around the room. But with my hisband and two of my kids around most of the time, I don't want to do a full clean-out. That would be scary!! So the cleaning process will happen one quilt at a time.

I love that picture! lol! Hey, any solution that solves the problem, at least somewhat, is fine by me. lol! I'm currently hoping and dreaming that I can turn my DD's room into a sewing room. Fingers crossed!! I've dreamed of one for sooooooooo long!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wise move. I've done much the same thing, but it's mostly organized by project now. And my stash is organized. I do have one hideous pile in the corner of my counter (away from everything else) that is my "I'll just toss it here until I figure out what to do with it" pile. It's getting out of hand and I need to settle down and deal with it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next week.
Great pic and it sounds like you have things well in hand. Can't wait to see your quilt!
ReplyDeleteSO true....when our work area is not organized (at least to our sense of organizing) it care be distracting and I, for one, know I can't focus on a project and sometimes just have to avoid the sewing room! Seems you have a solution. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteorganizing is overrated ! LOL
ReplyDeletemy motto - why organize when I can stitch - just kidding you - I've been meaning to organize since we moved 4 years ago - YGG - Mel
Love the photo! Good luck with the organisation
ReplyDeleteThat's a funny photo and I know how you feel! I keep my sewing/stitching room pretty organized but it makes me crazy when stuff is lying all over. I have to room enough to work so I like your idea...bag it and move it. Kind of like hiding those dirty dishes in the oven when company stops over LOL
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will tame it. One block or quilt at a time.
