A Belated Valentine

I finished the stitching for this Pine Mountain pillow a few days before the 14th.  I think it's called Spots of Valentines.  After attaching a ribbon hanger to the pillow from the kit, I had my first finished project of 2012.  It's still not clear to me what that the spot in the lower right hand corner is supposed to be-candy, a fish?

I hope all of you had a special Valentine's Day.  My mother was born on February 14, so the day has always had special significance for me.  My husband is great about getting flowers and a card but this year he really outdid himself and got me an iPad2.  He told me that after 36 years of marriage, he knew I would be happier with new technology than with a piece of jewelry.  He knows me so well!  I'm having a lot of fun with the iPad and especially like reading blogs on it as the pictures are so clear.

My school district is closed tomorrow and Monday, so I have a four day weekend.  I'm planning on lots of stitching time.  Grace Mason is soooo close to being done and I'll be posting another finish soon.

    The lower right is a valentine card: the white part is the inside of the envelope and the red is the outside with the pink heart being the valentine. The green card has a red stamp on it. Unless you meant the other right and then yes, a Kiss.

Today is my 35th wedding anniversary. We were married in the church in my hometown in southeast Nebraska. No air conditioning and people thought my husband was nervous when they saw him shaking his leg. He was just trying to get the sweat to run down it a bit faster! Mine was the first of three weddings my parents planned, and since I had spent the summer in Pennsylvania working and setting up our new apartment, most things fell to my mother. WIP Wednesday

We are not so patiently waiting for spring to arrive in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Four nor'easters in March is just cruel and I've had enough of this cold weather.  The upside is that it makes it easy to stay inside and stitch.  I'm making progress on a few things, but for reasons not clear to me, I've had a hard time settling down with one project.  I had the pleasure of taking two classes with Catherine Theron at the end of March.  You can see the projects she taught on the Salty Yarns website by clicking on the Events tab.  When I got home I was inspire to find the piece from the first class I took from Catherine at the Delaware Valley Historic Sampler Guild  many (maybe 10??) years ago.  This will become a Quaker sewing case. At Long Last

I finally have a finish!  Here is Susan Rambo in all her wrinkled glory.  I stitched it on a vintage 36 count fabric that is close in color to the amber/toasted almond Wichelt fabric called for in the SANQ chart.  The fibers are Needlepoint Inc silks.  I love the colors and this is my all-time favorite sampler.
