March One Monthly Goal

Setting one goal for the month has really helped me make progress on two projects so far this year.  I debated between two projects for this month and finally made my choice.  I'm going to commit to finishing the blocks for the Farm Girl Vintage (Lori Holt) quilt I started at least a year and a half ago.  I was doing well completing a block or two a week and then life intervened and the project stalled out.  I counted tonight and I think I have just eight blocks to make before I can start putting the quilt together.  Here are some of the ones that are done.
Even though the 6" blocks have been a challenge in some cases, I've had a lot of fun choosing colors and putting these together.  Getting this quilt done will also help me clean up a corner of my sewing room where the fabrics for this project are stacked.  Maybe I'll even be inspired to start on the sashing.

    those are really fun colorful blocks Susan - glad you are making progress on a long stalled project. YEAH! I missed your last post (I think) what a pretty project - my colors for sure ! I hope March continues to be spring like for you in PA ! cheers Mel

    Such a good idea! I need to think about working on getting my sewing mojo back. I've been knitting a little bit and it's been a while for that! Beautiful blocks and I'm looking forward to seeing how much you get done!

    Very nice! I sewed the teapot block and made it into a zip pouch. Good luck on your goal. I'll be looking forward to seeing your other blocks.

Today is my 35th wedding anniversary. We were married in the church in my hometown in southeast Nebraska. No air conditioning and people thought my husband was nervous when they saw him shaking his leg. He was just trying to get the sweat to run down it a bit faster! Mine was the first of three weddings my parents planned, and since I had spent the summer in Pennsylvania working and setting up our new apartment, most things fell to my mother. WIP Wednesday

We are not so patiently waiting for spring to arrive in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Four nor'easters in March is just cruel and I've had enough of this cold weather.  The upside is that it makes it easy to stay inside and stitch.  I'm making progress on a few things, but for reasons not clear to me, I've had a hard time settling down with one project.  I had the pleasure of taking two classes with Catherine Theron at the end of March.  You can see the projects she taught on the Salty Yarns website by clicking on the Events tab.  When I got home I was inspire to find the piece from the first class I took from Catherine at the Delaware Valley Historic Sampler Guild  many (maybe 10??) years ago.  This will become a Quaker sewing case. At Long Last

I finally have a finish!  Here is Susan Rambo in all her wrinkled glory.  I stitched it on a vintage 36 count fabric that is close in color to the amber/toasted almond Wichelt fabric called for in the SANQ chart.  The fibers are Needlepoint Inc silks.  I love the colors and this is my all-time favorite sampler.
